The Significance of the 10th Muharram (Ashura)
On the 10th of Muharram, known as Ashura, we commemorate Allah's deliverance of the Israelites from Pharaoh, led by the Prophet Musa.
This day is marked by fasting and reflection, celebrating resilience, faith, and divine miracles.
When Prophet Muhammad arrived in Madinah, he saw Jews fasting in gratitude for Musa's salvation and said, "We are closer to Musa than you are," instructing Muslims to fast on this day as well.
We remember Musa's journey: Allah's messages, the plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, and sustenance in the desert.
But it isn't just about fasting.
It's a day to gather with family, share stories, and reflect on our deep connection to Musa and the righteous who came before us.As Abrahamic believers, we celebrate our shared heritage and devotion to the Ever-Living Allah.
Let Ashura inspire us to reflect on our identity and the faith that has carried believers through history.
